STOP THE STIGMA

This group of HIV+ women spoke a simple but profound message to all gathered at the AIDS conference last week: stop the discrimination and stigma against people who are positive. I was encouraged by their bravery and determination to make a difference. The conference was a great time of learning more about AIDS and a powerful reminder that everyone is affected by HIV/AIDS!

That's what "my children" call me. In Hausa it means mother of the children. These are only a few of the kids that live on the Spring of Life compound. Often when they see me coming down the dirt road they run to greet me and practically knock me over with big hugs. It's the best part of my day :)
